DirtChurch 2019: All Are Welcome

ABOUT THE SERIES

Join us for Southern California’s most anticipated adventure series on Sunday’s this fall. In collaboration with Lost Cyclery, Eliel Cycling, Latigo Coffee and The Lost Abbey the second season of #DirtChurch will bring more dirt, multiple route options, coffee and new host venues.

These events are intended to bring our local cycling community together and support a good cause. A portion of proceeds from event related sales will go to All Hands and Hearts, an organization working on hurricane relief efforts in the Bahamas.

Event Details

#DirtChurch rides will occur on at least four weekends this fall, with the first three already scheduled for the last three Sundays in September. For each ride we will offer two gravel routes (A and B), with one being a few miles longer than the other, and at least one water stop marked. Starting locations and route details will be sent to all registered riders.

Rides will start and end at a Lost Abbey location in either San Marcos or Cardiff. Special start locations may also occur, riders will be notified if that is the case.

Coffee and restrooms will be available at 8:00AM. A and B groups will depart together at 8:30AM followed by a split of the two groups at the appropriate checkpoint location. We anticipate arriving back at the brewery after 12PM Noon.

Recommended EQUIPMENT

With a diversity of road and dirt surfaces the optimal bike for #DirtChurch is a gravel or cross bike with tires at least 35mm in width. Tubeless tires are highly recommended. Please ride completely self sufficient with a hand pump, CO2 cartridges, extra tubes and other appropriate trailside repair gear.

SELF-SUPPORTED

This is a self-supported ride, with no SAG wagon or official aid stations. Routes are not marked and you are 100% responsible for yourself, your mechanicals, your food/water resupplies, and your retrieval off route (in case of emergency).

Our CAUSE

Our desire for #DirtChurch is not only to bring people together for a good time on bikes, but to look beyond ourselves and support a good cause. For 2019 we have decided to partner with All Hands and Hearts – Smart Response and the work they are doing to bring support and relief to the Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian, a slow-moving category 5 hurricane that battered the island with heavy rains, damaging winds and severe storm surges. A percentage of proceeds from all #DirtChurch event related sales will go to the ongoing efforts by All Hands and Hearts to help those communities impacted by the storm.
