San Diego Gravel Rides 2022
Starting this Saturday, Feb 26, 2022 we are excited to announce a new 2x monthly gravel ride series that will start and end in Encinitas, CA and explore some of our favorite dirt, bike path and coastal roads in San Diego. Gravelstoke rides are well know for their welcoming atmosphere and fun vibes, and we hope to continue the tradition as we kick off this new series of free gravel events.
These Gravelstoke Dev Team hosted rides will occur on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays throughout the year in North County San Diego. Be sure to check our Event Page for important updates on any route, start time or location changes. For this SoCal ride series, we’ve crafted a new course that’s sure to please riders that are experienced or new to gravel.
Rides will start at The Lost Abbey Confessional in Cardiff, CA before heading south along the coast to Del Mar. The course then heads east into Gonzalez Canyon where the fun begins! After some singletrack and groomed gravel paths, we will connect to the 56 bike path and exit onto Poway Rd as we enter Penasquitos Canyon. PQ can be a fantastic place to ride gravel bikes, and we picked some of our favorite sections for this route that including singletrack and fire road. We will then jump back on the 56 bike path and return to the 101 for a coastal cruise back up to Cardiff.
The 40 ride includes 2000 ft of elevation and will start at 8:30AM from the Seaside Market courtyard next to Sambazan. Food, beverages, and story-telling will be enjoyed post-ride at The Confessional.
