The BWR Shakeout Ride is Back for 2022

Just ahead of the 2022 BWR, we are happy to bring back the 2nd annual SHAKEOUT IN THE HILLS on Thursday, April 28, 2022. We had a blast in 2021 when we kicked off the new tradition on our backyard trails of San Elijo Hills not far from the official Belgian Waffle Ride venue. For 2022 expect much of the same good times, chill vibes, and friendly faces as we return to San Marcos for an evening of gravel community.

The 2021 Belgian Waffle Ride California took place on Sunday, July 18 in unprecedented conditions for this “Hell of the West Coast” thriller. Held in North City, San Marcos, California, the BWR hosted its biggest race yet with a stacked field of pro gravel cyclists. For the Children - The 2019 Breakfast Burrito Ride

This is how the 2019 Belgian Waffle Ride weekend would begin. With another SoCal breakfast favorite, the burrito. The brainchild of Brandt Furgerson, aka Uncle Tio, the 2nd annual Breakfast Burrito Ride (BBR) would take place on the cloud covered morning of May 3. Hosted by Canyon Bicycles USA, the BBR is a no-drop, all smiles coastal roll to the top of Torrey Pines and back. Just 35 miles in distance, the ride covers perhaps San Diego’s most popular strip of pavement. While not much dirt in sight (that will come on Sunday), the views and vibes through Carlsbad, Encinitas, Cardiff, Solana Beach and Del Mar can’t be beat.

2018 BWR Film - Belgian Battered Legs Between Waffles and Kegs

With the 2019 Gravel Season coming soon, the Belgian Waffle Ride is one on the list for many riders.
