The 2022 Cutty Cap Challenge
The Cutty Cap Challenge is back in 2022 and Gravelstoke has teamed up with Ride With GPS to bring the scavenger hunt to San Diego on May 14th! 10 prize bags will be hidden in locations around San Diego county that participants are encouraged to find using only our Ride With GPS location map with clues. The map will be issued to our subscribers at 7AM on May 14th.
Rules
Please take only one cap prize bag per person so that plenty of folks have the opportunity to snag one. If you do find a cap, snap a photo and tag @ridewithgps + @notchas + @gravelstoke on Instagram with a description of the location.
You can find all the details we posted about the San Diego event here.
The Route
For those looking for an extra challenge we’ve created a single 75 mile gravel route with 7000ft of climbing that includes all 10 locations! You can ride it solo or join a group doing the entire course from Velotown in Leucadia, CA at 7AM. Or you can plan your own route to any of the locations marked on the official map. Points of interest will be marked on the route that we issue on the morning of May 14.
EQUIPMENT
With a diversity of road and dirt surfaces the optimal bike for Gravelstoke rides are a gravel or cross bike with tires at least 38mm in width. Tubeless tires are highly recommended. Please ride completely self-sufficient with a hand pump, CO2 cartridges, extra tubes and other appropriate trailside repair gear.
SELF-SUPPORTED
This is a self-supported ride, with no SAG wagon or aid stations. Routes are not marked and you are 100% responsible for yourself, your mechanicals, your food/water resupplies, and your retrieval off route (in case of emergency).
TRAIL ETIQUETTE
Please help us keep our trails safe and enjoyable for all. Whenever passing hikers, equestrians or other riders be prepared to slow down, say hi and pass in a safe and friendly manner. Always stay on designated trails and never ride dirt in wet or muddy conditions. Find more information on trail etiquette here.
