Velocio Gravel Preview 2021

I’ve been a big fan of Velocio apparel ever since I first tried their Signature Bib Shorts and a few pieces from the TRAIL collection. With an attention to detail and an honest commitment to quality and sustainability, there’s more to like than just a great fit and feel. Now that spring is here and summer is on the way, I checked in with Velocio to see what’s new for the season ahead. Here’s a look at the top 5 Velocio products I’m looking forward to most in 2021.

1. LUXE Bib Short

Every time I’ve tried a new bib short from Velocio it’s been my “favorite bib ever”. The LUXE comes in 5 great-looking colors, features the same cross-strap design as the Signature Bib, and promises just the right compression for all-day adventures. I look forward to trying the LUXE with its raw cut leg finish and supple fabric. For a slightly upgraded upper design check out the LUXE V2 Bib Short.

2. Ultralight Hooded Jacket

It’s always a good idea to bring a packable lightweight jacket on gravel rides as conditions have a way of quickly changing when routes go long and deep. The Velocio Ultralight Hooded Jacket looks like a beautiful piece of gear for precisely that. It features Quantum Air fabric from Pertex for a premium combination of wind resistance and breathability. With its more forgiving fit, the UL Hooded Jacket from Velocio should be great for bikepacking, commuting, and long gravel adventures.

3. Trail Merino Long Sleeve

All-new for 2021, the Velocio Trail Merino Long Sleeve caught my eye immediately. I loved the Polartec Delta Long Sleeve when it was launched back in 2019, and this new piece that shares the same fit looks like a worthy replacement. With the breathability and warmth that wool is known for, the new Trail Merino LS is likely good for 50-75°F (10-23°C) gravel rides. The added forearm and shoulder panels are a nice touch too. Grab one while you still can, because this one likely won’t be available for long.

4. TRAIL Short

Easily the best over-short we’ve ever tested, the Velocio TRAIL Short is so slim, stretchy, and lightweight you won’t even notice it’s there. Although designed for all-day mountain bike adventures, these are a great option for gravel riders who aren’t going for the groadie look. Don’t miss pairing these with the Velocio Trail Mesh Bib Liner for a perfect combination.

5. TRAIL Short Fingered Glove

Also available in a full-finger version, the Velocio TRAIL Short Fingered Glove could be the best thing for blister prevention since duct tape. We love a good short finger glove for better cooling, not to mention how it makes taking photos with a phone or camera way easier. If you’re looking for a high-quality, minimal glove with just the right amount of all-day, drop bar protection, check out the TRAIL Short Fingered Glove from Velocio.
