Ergon Announces New Gravel Bar Tape
Here at Gravelstoke we are huge fans of Ergon, a German brand that creates high-quality products for MTB and road with special attention to ergonomics. In the past, Ergon has focused its road innovations on the saddle and seatpost, e.g. you can see our review of the Ergon SR Pro Saddle which has consistently been our favorite saddle since its launch. Ergon has now moved to the cockpit with the launch of drop-bar-specific products for improved comfort. Their Allroad collection expands with a remastered CF seatpost, BT Bartapes, and Orthocell® under-tape inserts.
The CF Allroad Pro Carbon Seatpost will cost $249.95 and features a unique carbon leaf spring design that offers a lightweight solution for compliance versus other suspension designs that tend to be bulky or heavy. The BT Orthocell® Pad Set is a 4-piece damping set for the upper and lower handlebar positions. The pads will cost $29.95 and are designed to be applied to a bare handlebar before bar tape is wrapped for added cushioning.
The new Ergon BT Gravel Bartape is part of a collection of new handlebar tapes that also include models for Road and Allroad. As you might imagine, the BT Gravel version offers the most thickness and grip of all three. Other innovative features include a built-in wrapping guide for thinner or thicker wrapping, and the option to wrap in two directions to dial in your preferred grip.
Each BT bar tape model will be offered in five colors including black, blue, green, orange, and red. BT Gravel, BT Allroad, and BT Road measure 3.5mm, 2.5mm, and 2mm thick, respectively.
